Cheyenne Mountain Complex
The Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado is/was a Operations Center for the US Air Force built inside a mountain. It was constructed in the 1960s during the Cold War – the command center of NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) and the monitoring center for the worldwide system of satellites were located in this facility. Since 2006 the facility is in so-called “warm stand-by” because the dangers of the Cold War are over now. The complex is also home to the fictional U.S. Stargate Command of the Science Fiction TV series Stargate.
