    📒 New feature: Logbook

We have implemented a cool new feature – and we call it “Logbook”. Activate it in the edit mode and all information from your placemarks (title, date, coordinates, description, etc.) are listed below your map in a useful way.

You can keep a “travel diary” or create a “Geo Blog” and even download the calendar data in the iCAL file format and import it into your calendar application (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Apple iCal, Google Calendar, Facebook, etc.).

Furthermore – when activated – you can take a tour (“Auto-Playback”) of your entry in Google Earth mode (Google Earth 5.0+ standalone or Browser Plugin required!).

We recommend setting the correct timestamp (of your placemarks) in the Marker edit mode so that this feature is of real use to you.

    “Location-Tracking” just got better!

If you use a modern Web browser that supports the W3C Geolocation API or Google Gears you can now obtain your geographic position. Just click on the button, accept that you want to be tracked and you’ll see your approximate location on the map.

    Give it a try: http://www.glotter.com/geocoder

This feature is implemented in all Map services (even in “Marker-Edit-mode” to receive the coordinates) and improves usability.

Your privacy is important to us: GLOTTER never stores or shares your location without your permission.

Share your public “Google Latitude” location in your User profile

Many users have added a map of their residence to the individual GLOTTER profiles. Now users can even add any KML URL – or the “Google Latitude” location – to their User profile. If you want to share your current “Google Latitude” location in your GLOTTER User profile you just have to add a KML URL like http://www.google.com/latitude/apps/badge/api?user=1234567891011121314&type=kml (non working example!) to your Userdata. Give it a try! Privacy notice: Please keep in mind that all visitors of your User profile can see your location!

    🎈 Happy 2nd Birthday GLOTTER!

Two years ago the Google Maps Community GLOTTER started its service. Since then GLOTTER “grew up”. From Design- and Usability adaptations to new trend-setting surpassing functions – GLOTTER is now there where we wanted it to be.
Back in 2007 the “service” of creating digital World maps was in the foreground. In the meantime the Community and their publications became an inherent part of GLOTTER.
Good news: From now on the Community grows even more closely together because the Users now can connect to each other, add friends and interact in a better way.

We are curious about the future and are looking forward to design it together with “YOU”!

    Upload your existing KML/KMZ files

Have you already created KML- or KMZ-files with third-party-applications like Google Maps, Google Earth, etc.? From now on you can upload you data into new entries and present your maps at GLOTTER. This is a perfect feature for KML files containing Network links.

Please keep in mind that not all features are available for uploaded files. GLOTTER gives no warranty and is not responsible for uploaded content.
