    🪄 Bulk-Importer

With the new “Bulk-Importer” you can now import multiple placemarks to your GLOTTER maps – quick & straightforward via an Excel-like table.

    • Create a map
    • Click on the button + Import
    • Fill out the table (Pay attention to * required fields) and double-check your data
    • Click on Import

If you prefer working with a local spreadsheet you can download the following template https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LIkePgZOihN51JmyQUv5I-xRceG39p_IM128rLtq-AY/edit?usp=sharing, edit it locally by filling out the required fields and Copy&Paste the data into the Bulk-Import table.

Marker icons can to be defined via IDs in the column “Icon #” (the relevant IDs can be located by clicking on the Question mark sign above the table).

We believe that power users really benefit from this new feature and that it can save a lot of time!

    🎈 Happy 7th Birthday GLOTTER!

GLOTTER turns 7 and we would like to announce that we’ve improved the mobile version which has been specially designed for Smartphones and Touch devices.

The Code base has been optimized and the look&feel has been slightly aligned to the Desktop version, though we’ve took care that it still remains an independant mobile Web app.

A useful feature which releases extra space to the interface is the new Sidebar Panel. It can be revealed, if required, by clicking on the menu icon.

The Desktop version got some important Frontend improvements and a complete rewrite of the Autocomplete feature.

Feel free to send us your feeback!

    What time is it in…?

GLOTTER’s Geocoder http://www.glotter.com/geocoder has been updated with a really useful feature recently. Besides calculating the elevation, which already worked in the past, it is now also possible to retrieve the current World time and the timezone of locations.

Just use the Geocoder or the Geolocation API of your browser as usual. Afterwards click on the checkbox next to the clock icon to update the time.

Special thanks to Max (from New York City) for this idea. We are always open for new feature requests and are willing to implement them if they make sense and are valuable to our users.

Feel free to send us a message under http://www.glotter.com/contact.

Today a new HTML5 Service has been released on GLOTTER. Live Tracking lets you record a distance on a GPS-enabled device (Smartphone or Tablet) which has mobile Internet access.

If you would like to publish your Live Tracking path on a map or need to edit it afterwards, feel free to record your tour in the Edit mode. You can even download a screenshot of your map.

Please report any issues under Contact and don’t forget to provide details like Smartphone version, OS, location, etc.

    👀 A new design

Today we unveiled a design update. Our goal was to further point out the content and to streamline the visual appearance. All in all the website now is fresher, cleaner and has a more modern look & feel!

    Design changes

    • New logo in “flat design”
    • New colors
    • New font
    • Maps in normal mode are displayed in full width by default

    New functions and bugfixes

    • Since the Geocoder is one of our most popular services, we thought that it would be useful to integrate a Geocoder function to the main search field. From now on you can also search for locations – besides the GLOTTER entries – all from the same input field and of course with an autocomplete function. Please note that for legal reasons this only works, if a Google Map has been implemented on the page.
    • Futhermore we implemented a lot of changes and bugfixes which mostly affect the Responsive Design.

    Google Maps

    • The maps received a fresh new look with a new default Marker, new Info window design and new map controls.
    • Google recently released a major Satellite map imagery update (no clouds anymore!).

We are confident that this is the best release so far and that the changes will be well received by our users and visitors.

As usual we are looking forward to receiving your feedback.

P.S.: The Google Maps API which has been used by GLOTTER since the beginning, celebrates its 8th anniversary shortly (GLOTTER celebrated its 6th birthday earlier this year). Nowadays more than one million active websites and apps use the Google Maps API and reach one billion users every week – that’s half of the Internet. We are happy to be a (small) part of this success story!

    🎈 Happy 6th Birthday GLOTTER!

GLOTTER celebrates its 6th birthday and has been updated to support state-of-the-art HiDPI (“Retina”) Displays to be prepared for the future. This means that – if the relevant hardware is used – all images, icons and web elements are displayed crisper and more detailed than before.

The update does not restrain the speed of the website – instead the load time could even be reduced by optimizing the images and by using new technologies.
