The Burning Man Project
An annual event for one week in August that takes place at the “temporary” Black Rock City, Nevada. The project first was held in 1986 on Baker Beach in San Francisco and moved to the Black Rock Desert in 1990. The main ritual of the event is the burning of a wooden sculpture. Explanation from the official website… “Trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind.” In 2007 nearly 48,000 people participated in the project.
