Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel (Nubian Monuments) are historic monuments in Egypt and an UNESCO world heritage. They were built by Pharaoh Ramesses II about 1244 BC. Due to the construction of the High Dam the temple had to be removed and reconstructed on a secure place from 1964 – 1968.
