Today is the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther's "I Have a Dream" speech, which was held on August 28, 1963 at the Washington D.C. Civil Rights March.

It is a global sculpture made of steel (with a diameter of 120 feet = 36.57 meters it is the world's largest!) which was built for the World fair in 1964. Flushing Meadows park is featured in Men in Black (where the alien ship crashes into the Unisphere) and in the opening of King of Queens. Die Untersuchung orientiert sich an den folgenden fünf Indikatoren, die den Fußverkehr in den Städten beschreiben: - Modal-Split - Umwegefaktor - Erholungsfläche pro Einwohner - im Verkehr getötete Fußgänger pro 1 Mio. Einwohner - Motorisierungsgrad (Pkw pro 1.000 Einwohner) Die Ergebnisse wurden in eine Punkteskala von 1 bis 100 übertragen. Der Durchschnitt der Indikatoren bildet den perpedesindex 2016. The study is based on five indicators, which describe walking in cities: - modal split - factor of circuitous routes - recreation area available per single inhabitant - pedestrians killed by road traffic per 1 million inhabitants - level of motorization (single car per 1.000 inhabitants) The results are scaled from 0 to 100 points (Punkte). The average value constitutes the perpedesindex 2016. This year, Rostock took the first place among the cities in Germany. Thel results have been summarised in this map. Point values down to 64 Points have been pictured in green, Point values between 50 and 64 have been pictured in yellow and pointvalues under 50 have been pictured in red.
