Vendée Globe regatta

The Vendée Globe is a round-the-world yacht race – single-handed, sailed non-stop, no assistance. Start/Finish is Les Sables d’Olonne in France.
8 gates have to be passed:
Atlantic Gate
Kerguelen Gate
Heard Island Gate
West Australia Gate
East Australia Gate
New Zealand Gate
West Pacific Gate
East Pacific Gate
2008/2009 the race started on November 9, 2008. The winner finished the course on February 2, 2009. The last sailor who completed the course arrived on March 15, 2009. All in all 11 out of 29 participants completed the regatta!
