It's main aim is stopping conflicts and keeping peace between countries - the UN also provides a platform for dialogue and is negotiating in many issues. The headquarters are located in New York City. There are offices with different missions in Vienna, Geneva and Nairobi. Stonehenge and replicas Throughout the USA are these (funny) replicas of the famous Stonehenge stone formation. The royal world premiere was on October 29th 2008 in London's Leicester Square. Microsoft's first Headquarters The Historic Microsoft Headquarters are located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Microsoft Inc. was founded here and remained in Albuquerque from 1975 to 1979 before moving to Seattle. The plaque on the rock (Streetview) reads: Microsoft Inc., housed at this site from 1975 to 1979, was founded here by Paul G. Allen and Bill Gates, whose passion for technology and vision of "a computer on every desk and in every home" led to the development of Microsoft's groundbreaking software. Cheyenne Mountain Complex The Cheyenne Mountain Complex in Colorado is/was a Operations Center for the US Air Force built inside a mountain. It was constructed in the 1960s during the Cold War - the comman center of NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) and the monitoring center for the worldwide system of satellites were located in this facility. Since 2006 the facility is in so-called "warm stand-by" because the dangers of the Cold War are over now. The complex is also home to the fictional U.S. Stargate Command of the Science Fiction TV series Stargate. Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park The Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park is located in Queens, New York. It is a global sculpture made of steel (with a diameter of 120 feet = 36.57 meters it is the world's largest!) which was built for the World fair in 1964. Flushing Meadows park is featured in Men in Black (where the alien ship crashes into the Unisphere) and in the opening of King of Queens. Bill Gates' house The house of Bill Gates - founder of Microsoft - is located in Medina near Seattle in Washington. It's nicknamed Xanadu 2.0 (adapted from the fictional estate in Citizen Kane).
