NASA Space Shuttle Landing Sites must have a runway that is at least 3,050 metres long and access to personnel and equipment capable of responding to the landing

MAIN
- Kennedy Space Center, FL (preferred location)
- Edwards AFB, CA
- White Sands Space Harbor, NM

ALTERNATE: Transoceanic
Abort Landing (TAL) Sites - in case of an emergency after liftoff
- Istres Air Base, France
- Morón Air Base, Spain
- Zaragoza Air Base, Spain

Space shuttles are launched eastward over the Atlantic Ocean from Kennedy Space Center in Florida for insertion into equatorial orbits.
